Athena Plagou graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and subsequently completed her specialization in Diagnostic Radiology at the General Hospital of Athens in 2005. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Athens with distinction in 2006. She further specialized in the field of advanced Ultrasound techniques, including Musculoskeletal and Soft Tissue Ultrasound, at Leeds Teaching Hospitals in the United Kingdom and Molière Longchamp Hôpitaux Iris Sud in Belgium.

Since 2012, Athena Plagou has operated a specialized Ultrasound Clinic in Nea Erythraia, Attica, where she performs all the Body Ultrasound Scans, Musculoskeletal System Ultrasound Scans, and Vascular Triplex Scans. She also conducts Ultrasound-Guided Interventional Procedures - Injectable Treatments for Tendons and Joints.
