Pediatric Kidneys and Bladder Ultrasound

What is a Pediatric Kidneys and Bladder Ultrasound?

This is a specialized imaging examination used to evaluate the urinary system in infants, children, and adolescents.

It provides detailed imaging of the kidneys and bladder, contributing to the diagnosis and monitoring of pathological conditions.

When is it indicated and what conditions can it detect?

It is performed in cases of urinary tract infections, abdominal or back pain, or urinary symptoms such as frequency, dysuria, nocturnal enuresis, or incontinence.

It allows evaluation of kidney morphology and position, and detection of conditions such as hydronephrosis, stones, cysts, or congenital anomalies. It also assesses ureteral dilation, bladder wall and contents, and post-void residual urine. The adrenal regions are also evaluated during the examination.

Which anatomical structures are evaluated?
