What is a Pediatric Uterus & Ovaries Ultrasound?

This is a specialized imaging examination used to evaluate the internal reproductive organs in infants, children, and adolescents.

It provides detailed imaging of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvis, contributing to the diagnosis and monitoring of various conditions, adapted to each stage of development.

When is it indicated and what conditions can it detect?

It is performed in cases of abdominal or pelvic pain, lower abdominal swelling, menstrual irregularities in adolescents, or when hormonal or developmental disorders are suspected.

It may detect ovarian cysts, inflammatory conditions, or other pelvic abnormalities. It is also used to evaluate congenital anomalies of the uterus and ovaries, as well as cases of early or delayed puberty.

In acute situations, ultrasound can help diagnose ovarian torsion, a medical emergency requiring immediate treatment.
